The MCC Eagle golf team won the MACJC Event #2 by 18 strokes. Carrying a 2 stroke lead after the first round, the Eagles shot 275 (-13) to secure the victory. NJCAA number 1 ranked MS Gulf Coast (283, 291-574) placed second with host Co-Lin (300, 294-594) placing third.
The Eagles were once agian led by sophomore Isaiah Jackson who followed by his first day 67 with an outstanding 66 (-11 total) to win medalist honors by 4 strokes. Freshmen Will Kidder and Mitchell Fifer were also named to the all-tournament team. Will placed third overall by shooting 71, 69 (-4) and Mitchell tied for fourth by shooting 71, 71 (-2). Sophomore Rhett Walters shot 72, 76 (+4) to finish T11 and sophomore Jacob Berry finished T15 by shooting 83, 69. Playing as individuals, Logan Meadows finished T24 shooting 79, 78 and freshman Parker Brooks shot 86, 77 to finish T33.
"I'm not sure if it's a team record or not, but shooting -20 as a team for a 36 hole tounament is pretty darn good" said MCC golf coach Ronnie Key. " Isaiah continued his strong play and the others followed close behind. It was a lot of fin to watch."
The Eagles will play next at the University of North Alabama's home tournament on Oct. 16-17 at Turtle Point Golf and Yacht Club in Florence, AL.
