Eagles Pick Up Road Win

The Meridian Community College Eagles basketball team picked up a big road win over Bishop State Thursday night. The Eagles jumped out to a first half lead and never relinquished that lead in picking up the 68-54 win.

The Eagles were led on the night by 20 points from Iverson Smith. Sophomore Kylan Hamilton added 15 points.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 3-1 on the season. They will return to action Monday in the ECCC Tournament.

The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles went on the road Thursday night and lost in a close game to Bishop State. The Lady Eagles lost, with a final score of 69-64.

The Lady Eagles fell behind early and worked to battle their way back throughout the game. At the halftime break, the Lady Eagles were trailing by a score of 43-28. The deficit was cut to five points in the 4th quarter, but that was as close as the Lady Eagles could get it.

The Lady Eagles were led by freshman LaChrisha Williams with 10 points. Sophomore Dekeiya Cooley added 9 points, as did freshman Jada Arrington.

With the loss, the Lady Eagles fall to 3-2 on the season. They will return to action Monday in the ECCC Tournament.
