Meridian Community College standout Kace Garner has been selected First-Team All-Region 23. In addition to Garner’s All-Region selection, six members of the Meridian Community College baseball team have been selected for the 2019 MACJC All-State Baseball Team. Braden Forsyth, Garner, and Mack Pickering were chosen as First-Team All-State, while Markarius Lee, Hootie Parker, and Luke Wallner were all selected for Second-Team All-State.
First Team All-MACJC
Forsyth, a freshman from Senatobia, MS, dominated on the mound for the Eagles. He went 5-1 with 1 save and a 2.58 ERA. He struck out a team high 79 batters.
Garner, a freshman from Brandon, MS, led the Eagles in homers and RBIs. He had a team leading 16 homers and 52 RBIs. His 16 homers ranked 7th nationally.
Pickering, a sophomore from Hattiesburg, MS, led the Eagles with a .388 batting average. He also played multiple positions for the Eagles in the field. He is committed to continue his playing career with Mississippi College.
Lee, a sophomore from Southaven, MS, paced the Eagles offensively from the leadoff spot. He batted .371 while leading the team with 22 stolen bases. He is committed to continue his playing career with Mississippi College.
Parker, a sophomore from Saltillo, MS, was near the top of many offensive categories for the Eagles. He had multiple game-winning hits for the Eagles. He is committed to continue his playing career with the University of Arkansas Little Rock.
Wallner, a sophomore from Forest Lake, MN, led the Eagles with a team-high 6 wins on the mound. He finished the season with a 3.47 ERA and struck out 46 batters. He is committed to continue his playing career with the University of Arkansas Little Rock.
“We are proud of all these guys, and it is a well-deserved recognition. They worked extremely hard and exemplified what our program is all about on and off the field,” said MCC Head Coach Dillon Sudduth.
The Eagles finished the 2019 season with a 29-15 overall record and a record of 18-10 in MACJC play.
