The Meridian Community College Eagles raced out to a big lead early on and never looked back in a dominant win Wednesday night. The Eagles built a lead as big as forty points in the first half and cruised to an easy 98-52 victory over the visiting Lions of Royal Ambassadors Prep.
The Eagles started the game by winning the tip-off and dominated the game from that point forward. The Eagles controlled the first half in all aspects. Defensively they were able to force multiple turnovers and turn those into easy scoring opportunities. The Eagles were led early on by the hot shooting hand of Kylan Hamilton, who hit a couple of early three-point shots to help build the MCC lead. The Eagles were also able to control the interior with Liban Abdi making multiple layups throughout the first half. At the half, the Eagles lead was 57-22.
The second half saw the Eagles maintain a forty point lead throughout much of the half. The Eagles controlled the second half much like the first. They were able to stretch the lead to fifty points, and many players got quality playing time.
The Eagles leading scorer for the night was Brandon Mills with 20 points. Kylan Hamilton scored 18 while Liban Abdi added 17 points for the Eagles. With the win, the Eagles improve to 4-1 on the season. The Eagles will return to action Friday against Spring Hill.
