Lady Eagles Split Weekend Series
The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles softball team completed a four-game homestand Saturday afternoon. The Lady Eagles hosted Bishop State for a doubleheader. The Lady Eagles picked up a 5-0 win in game one and lost game two 5-2.
 
Hayleigh Rogers threw a shutout to lead the Lady Eagles past Bishop State 5-0 in game one on Saturday. She lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and zero runs while striking out three.
 
Jackie Lahaie led the way offensively with three hits and two runs batted in. Keirra Fair and Miracle Crosby both had two hits for the Lady Eagles.
 
Game two saw the Lady Eagles fall 5-2. The game was tied at two heading into the seventh when Bishop State scored three in the top of the inning to take the lead.
 
Kaitlyn Parrish took the tough loss for the Lady Eagles. She allowed seven hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.
 
Megan Lightcap, Fair, and Crosby led the Lady Eagles with two hits in game two.
 
With the doubleheader split the Lady Eagles record improves to 3-5. The Lady Eagles will be back in action Tuesday, March 5. They will travel to take on Bevill State. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00.
