The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles went on the road Tuesday to pick up a pair of wins. The Lady Eagles defeated Bevill State 16-4 in the first game and picked up the 12-9 win in game two.
The Lady Eagles had an offensive explosion in game one. Jada Henderson and Alyssa Branyan led the way with three hits each. The team had fifteen hits total in the game.
The Lady Eagles scored during every inning. They scored multiple runs in four out of five at bats. Jaelynn Palmer and Branyan both hit homers for the Lady Eagles.
Hayleigh Rogers was credited with the victory for the Lady Eagles. She allowed six hits and four runs over five innings.
Game two saw the Lady Eagles battle back from a five run deficit. Heading into the fifth inning trailing 7-2, the Lady Eagles exploded for seven runs to take a 9-7 lead.
Jackie Lahaie paced the Lady Eagles offensively. Lahaie went 4 for 5 at the plate. She singled in the first, doubled in the third, singled in the fifth, and doubled in the seventh. She also added three rbi’s on the day. Miracle Crosby also had a big day at the plate. She went 2 for 4 and drove in two runs.
Kaitlyn Parrish picked up the win for the Lady Eagles. She allowed four hits and nine runs over five innings, striking out four. Hayleigh Rogers threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Rogers recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Meridian Community College.
With the pair of victories the Lady Eagles improve to 5-5 on the season. They will be back in action Friday, March 8 against Mississippi Delta Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 at Tommy McDonald Field.
