Lady Eagles Drop Doubleheader
The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles returned to Tommy McDonald Field Tuesday afternoon for a doubleheader against East Central Community College. The Lady Eagles fell in game one 9-5 and lost game two 8-5.
 
The Lady Eagles fell behind 3-0 as the Lady Warriors scored three in the top of the 2nd inning. They would respond quickly as the first batter, in the bottom of the 2nd inning, Kelsey Patterson drove a homer over the fence to cut the deficit to 3-1. The Lady Eagles would cut the deficit to one in the 3rd. Keirra Fair got the inning started with a walk. She then stole second and advanced to third on a sacrifice. She would come in to score on a fielders choice to make it 3-2.
 
The Lady Eagles would take the lead in the fourth. Aahliya Jones led off with a walk and would advance to third on consecutive singles from Jackie Lahaie and Taylor Perilloux. With the bases loaded Fair drove in a run, with a single, to make it 3-3. Alyssa Branyan would give the Lady Eagles the lead with a two-run single to make it 5-3.
 
The Lady Warriors responded with two runs in the fifth to tie the game back up. The Lady Warriors scored one in the sixth to take a 6-5 lead. They would add three more in the seventh to go ahead 9-5.
 
Kaitlyn Parrish took the loss the Lady Eagles. She surrendered nine runs on 12 hits over seven innings, striking out three.
 
The Lady Eagles fell into a 4-0 hole in game two before getting the offense going in the third inning. Taylor Perilloux walked and came home on a Fair triple to center. Fair came home on a sacrifice bunt to bring the score to 4-2.
 
The Lady Eagles would add another run in the fifth inning. Jaelynn Palmer led off with a walk. She advanced on a single from Perilloux. Palmer scored the Eagles third run on an error, bringing the Lady Eagles within a run at 4-3.
 
The Lady Warriors scored four runs in the seventh to stretch their lead to 8-3. The Lady Eagles would add two in the seventh but fell 8-5.
With the two losses the Lady Eagles fall to 11-9 on the season. They will return to action Thursday, March 28 at Northwest Mississippi Community College. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00.
