The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles softball team picked up two wins Friday afternoon. The Lady Eagles have now won four straight games. The Lady Eagles defeated Mississippi Delta Community College in game one 14-5 and 13-6 in game two.
The Lady Eagles got off to a quick start jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. The first inning was highlighted by a homer from Megan Lightcap. The Lady Eagles added four more in the second inning. Alyssa Branyan hit her first of two homers in the second and added another in the fifth inning.
Branyan led the way offensively for the Lady Eagles. She drove in six runs and had two homers. The Lady Eagles had ten hits in the game. Branyan and Aahliya Jones both had multiple hits.
Kaitlyn Parrish was credited with the victory for the Lady Eagles. She went five innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out six.
The Lady Eagles continued to swing hot bats in game two. The Lady Eagles jumped out to an 11-0 lead after two innings. Kelsey Patterson hit a homerun in the bottom of the first to get things going for the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Eagles pounded out eleven hits during the game. Miracle Crosby, Taylor Perilloux, and Branyan all had two hits.
Hayleigh Rogers earned the victory on the rubber for the Lady Eagles. She surrendered six runs on nine hits over four and a third innings, striking out one and walking one. Kaitlyn Parrish threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Parrish recorded the last eight outs to earn the save for the Lady Eagles.
With the wins the Lady Eagles improve to 7-5 on the season. The Lady Eagles are scheduled to return to the field Saturday, March 16 against Bevill State. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 at Tommy McDonald Field.
