The Meridian Community College soccer teams went on the road Friday to face off against the Warriors of East Central Community College. These were the final exhibition games for the Eagles before the regular season begins. The Lady Eagles battled to a 0-0 tie while the Eagle men picked up the 2-0 win.
The Eagles got off to a quick start taking a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute. Miguel Gonzalez put it past the goalkeeper to give the Eagles the early lead. The Eagles would hold the Warriors scoreless throughout the first half to take the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
The Eagles would add to the lead in the 77th minute when Jeremiah Trest scored on a penalty kick to give the Eagles a 2-0 advantage. The Eagles would finish out the rest of the half and pick up the 2-0 victory.
The Lady Eagles battled to a 0-0 tie. Both teams were able to get some shots on goal but neither were able to capitalize. Leia Carter made several great saves for the Lady Eagles to help preserve the shutout.
The Lady Eagles will begin the regular season Friday, August 23 against Dyersburg State Community College at 5:30. The Eagle men will be at home against Delta State Friday, August 23 at 6:00.
