Darryl Jordan signs with Jackson State University

Meridian - Basketball standout Darryl Jordan (Hattiesburg High School) is moving to Division 1 basketball after signing with Jackson State University.

Head coach James Green said, "Darryl has worked very hard to get an opportunity to play at the Division 1 level. His work has improved his skill level as well as his body. Coach Vaughn at JSU did an outstanding job recruiting him, and I have no doubt he will do a great job helping Darryl take his game to the next level."

Darryl said, " I appreciate Coach Green and Coach Broughton for the opportunity to walk on and be a part of a great program. I thank MCC for allowing me to use their platform to reach my goal in life and sign a scholarship to a Division 1 school."

While at MCC, Darryl averaged 12 points and 7 rebounds a game for the Eagles. His best performance came in a 72-70 win at Mississippi Gulf Coast in which Darryl had 22 points and 13 rebounds. Darryl is a versatile player who could score inside and out. He spends most of his time in the paint but can step behind the arc and knock down a 3-pointer if he needs to. Coach Green said, "Darryl has represented himself, his family, and MCC very well. We thank him for his contributions and to our program and wish him well."

Darry said, " Being doubted my whole life and overcoming fear and negativity got me where I am today. I'm excited to join a great program like Jackson State, and I hope to improve as a player so I can help bring a championship to the Tigers."
