The MCC Golf team won the NJCAA National Preview tournament at Glen Lakes Golf Course in Foley, AL. The Eagles shot six over par (294) for the last round to take a 5 stroke win over number 1 ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Eagles shot 296, 286, 294 (876 total) for the 54 hole tournament. Gulf Coast finished 2nd with a total of 891, Parkland College (IN) placed 3rd shooting 904.
Isaiah Jackson lead the way for the Eagles winning individual medalist by shooting 71, 69, 72 (-5). Joining him on the all-tournament team was freshman Mitchell Fifer who shot 72, 73, 71 (E). Freshman Will Kidder placed 13th overall with a 77, 72, 77 and freshman Kade Pitts tied for 28th shooting 78, 80, 79. Freshman Dalton Baskin played as an idividual and shoot 85, 88, 75.
"I am very proud of our guys for fighting so hard and winning this tournament" said Coach Ronnie Key. "This was the preview for our national tournament next May and it is nice to play will here. Isaiah has had a tremendous fall and showed why he is one the elite players in junior college golf. The team also had a strong fall, winning 2 tournaments and getting some great experience in some big tournaments".
The Eagles now take a break and look forward to the start of the spring portion of their schedule starting in February.
