Bio
Entering his third season as head coach of the Meridian Community College women's volleyball program, Alex Schimelpfening continues to build the foundation for one of the newest programs in MCC Athletics. During the 2025 season, Schimelpfening guided the Eagles to 10 victories and the program's first MACCC conference win, marking significant milestones as the program continues its growth and development.
Since being tasked with launching MCC Volleyball, Schimelpfening has focused on creating a competitive culture while providing student-athletes with opportunities to succeed both on and off the court. His vision for the program centers on player development, academic success, and establishing the Eagles as a competitive program within the MACCC.
Prior to starting the volleyball program at Meridian Community College, Schimelpfening spent five years helping develop volleyball athletes aspiring to compete at the high school and collegiate levels. His coaching experience includes serving as an assistant women's volleyball coach at Lamar School, where he gained valuable experience working with student-athletes in a competitive environment.
In addition to his coaching experience, Schimelpfening and his wife, Courtney, have played a significant role in growing the sport of volleyball throughout East Mississippi and West Alabama. In 2019, the couple founded Queen City Athletics Volleyball Club, an organization that has helped expand volleyball opportunities for athletes across the region.
As co-owners and directors of Queen City Athletics Volleyball Club, Alex and Courtney have hosted numerous clinics and training opportunities for athletes of all ages and skill levels. Since its founding, the club has trained hundreds of athletes and developed teams that compete at both the regional and national levels, providing young players with opportunities to advance their skills and pursue collegiate volleyball careers.
Schimelpfening remains committed to building a championship-caliber program at Meridian Community College while continuing to grow the game of volleyball throughout the region.
He and his wife, Courtney, reside in Meridian and remain actively involved in developing the next generation of volleyball athletes through Queen City Athletics Volleyball Club.
