Robby Atkinson returns to MCC as "The Voice of The Eagles"

Robby Atkinson has been hired as the exclusive "Voice of the Eagles" at Meridian Community College. Robby returns to his alma mater, where his broadcasting career began as a student in 2000.

Sports Information Director Christopher Haralson said, "MCC is looking at expanding our Livestream for all home athletic events, and there's no better voice to represent the Eagles than Robby Atkinson. We are thrilled to have him on staff here at MCC."

Atkinson is undoubtedly no stranger to MCC. A former MCC student, Atkinson has been involved with MCC athletics since 2000 when he worked as a student assistant with MCC baseball under Scott Berry. In 2014 Atkinson was hired by MCC to be the Sports Information Director and program director for 106.9 The Eagle, the MCC's official radio station. He remained in those positions for four years before taking a job with The Radio People as the program director for Q101 and Fox Sports 99.7/1450am in Meridian, MS. While working for the Radio People, Robby still served as the PA announcer for MCC on a part-time basis.

Atkinson said, "I am extremely excited about returning home to Merdian Community College. It is a great opportunity to join a rich tradition of athletics at MCC and the MACCC. I want to thank Dr. Huebner and the entire staff at MCC for allowing me to come back home."

If you've ever turned on a radio in Meridian, MS, you've probably heard Robby talking. He was the play-by-play voice of the Meridian High Wildcats football team from 2005-2015, and he can now be heard in that
same position for the Lamar Raiders football team on Friday nights. In addition to his time on the radio, Atkinson serves as the public address announcer for the State Games of Mississippi All-Star baseball tournament each summer. With over 20 years of broadcasting experience, Robby will definitely make MCC's Livestream of home events the best in Mississippi.
