Lady Eagles tennis finished 11th at NJCAA National Tournament
TUCSON, AZ - MCC Lady Eagles tennis team finished 11th at the NJCAA Division 1 Women's Tennis National Tournament.
MCC got off to a hot start on day 1 of the tournament, winning 7 of their 9 matches to collect 14 points. Number 1 doubles, Ally Bowen and Ana Julissa De Mata, upset the #8 seed Weatherford College 6-1,6-4. Number 2 doubles Sarah Cline and Isabella Warham upset Wallace State 7-6, 6-2, and at number 3 doubles Harper Bryan and Kolbi Holifield defeated Adele Hutton and Kate Jackson 6-2,6-2.
In singles action, Ana Julissa De Mata defeated Sydney Scott 6-0,6-0, Isabella Warham defeated Emma Pager 6-1,6-3, Harper Bryan defeated Kate Jackson 6-0,6-0, and Kamryn Rodriquez defeated Madison Siebenaler 6-0,6-0.
On day 2, the Lady Eagles only picked up 2 points. At number 1 doubles Ally Bowen and Ana Julissa De Mata won again and advanced to the quarterfinals. Ally Bowen won in the consolation bracket at number 2 singles, as did Sarah Cline at number 4 singles.
On day 3, Ally Bowen won her quarterfinal match 8-4 over Kendra Farrell, and Sarah Cline won her quarterfinal match 8-3 over Alyssa Vandiver.
The Lady Eagles would finish the NJCAA Division 1 Women's Tennis Championship with 17 points and finish 11th overall. MCC finished higher than all other Mississippi colleges.
