Kevin Kennedy joins the MCC Softball Staff
MERIDIAN - Meridian Community College softball welcomes Kevin Kennedy as their newest assistant coach, bringing a wealth of experience from seven successful years at Drury University. His coaching led the Panthers to their first NCAA-II Tournament appearance and a program-record 37 wins. Kennedy's expertise also produced 12 all-conference performers and the program's first-ever All-American player, Kristina Bettis. His coaching journey extends to LSU-Alexandria, where he contributed to two NAIA national tournament appearances.
Head coach Brad Grinstead said, "I am extremely excited and blessed to have coach Kennedy join our program. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from the four-year level that will play a huge role in developing our athletes and building a championship program here at MCC."
In addition to his coaching contributions, Kennedy has been coaching a collegiate all-star team that played against the 2004 USA Olympic Softball Team as part of Team USA's exhibition tour before the Olympic Games. Kennedy holds a degree in History, which he earned from Evangel University in 2003. With a passion for sports and education, Kennedy's diverse background makes him an invaluable addition to the team.
Originally from San Diego, California, he graduated from Grossmont High School. Lady Eagles softball is thrilled to welcome Kevin Kennedy to their coaching staff. It looks forward to an exciting season under his guidance. His vast experience and commitment to excellence make him an invaluable addition to the team.
Coach Kennedy said, "I'd like to thank Coach Grinstead for bringing me to Meridian. I am excited to work helping make MCC Softball a championship-caliber program in the coming years."
