Freshman Lauren Smith wins MACCC Player of the Week

Meridian - Freshman Lauren Smith of Birmingham, England, took less than one-half of soccer to find the back of the net for the Lady Eagles. In the 44th minute of their first game against Southern Union, Smith scored to give the Lady Eagles a 2-0 lead, and then in the 52nd minute, she scored again to make it 3-0. In the second game of the season, Smith picked up right where she left off, scoring in the 28th and 84th minutes against the MS Gulf Coast Lady Bulldogs. This outstanding play earned Lauren Smith the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Player of the Week honors.
