Meridian Community College Golf Team Secures Back-to-Back MACCC wins
Brookhaven – The Meridian Community College (MCC) Eagles golf team continued their winning streak today, capturing their second consecutive MACCC win at the MACCC Event #2 hosted by Co-Lin at Brookhaven Country Club. Following their win at the MACCC Preview two weeks ago, the Eagles solidified their position as a top contender in the conference.
After the first round, the Eagles trailed the Hinds Eagles by just one stroke, but their determination paid off in the second round. With a strong team effort, MCC surged ahead to claim the championship, finishing three strokes ahead of the East Central Warriors.
Bruce McClung led the Eagles, who shot an impressive 61 in the first round, followed by a 71, and earned a spot on the All-Tournament team. Joining McClung on the All-Tournament team was Maddox Atkinson, who shot 73, 69. Rounding out the team scoring was Dax Reaux, who shot 74, 74; Jace Duckworth, who shot 73, 76; and Colin Russell, who shot 75, 84.
Playing as individuals, Carson Darby shot 74,70, and Ayers Mathis shot 81,80.
The Eagles will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday, October 7-8, as they host the Jim Redgate Invitational at Briarwood Golf Club and are looking to continue their momentum.
