Eagles Post Multiple Top-10 Finishes at NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships
TOPEKA, Kan. — The Meridian Community College men's and women's track & field teams closed out the 2026 indoor season with several strong performances at the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships held March 6–7 at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility on the campus of Washburn University.
Competing against the nation's top junior college athletes, the Eagles recorded multiple top-10 finishes across a variety of events during the two-day championship meet. The MCC men's team finished 15th overall in the national standings.
Day One Highlights
Competition began at 9 a.m. on the opening day, with several Eagles advancing through preliminary rounds and earning top finishes.
Jamari Page advanced to the finals in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a preliminary time of 7.94. Khiyon Lewis also moved on to the finals in the men's long jump after recording a preliminary mark of 7.26 meters.
Lewis later finished 5th overall in the long jump finals with an improved mark of 7.35 meters, while T.J. Autrey delivered another standout performance for the Eagles, finishing 3rd overall in the men's high jump with a clearance of 2.09 meters.
Day Two Highlights
Competition resumed Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m., with the Eagles once again producing strong results.
Lewis returned to the runway in the men's triple jump, advancing to the finals with a mark of 14.78 meters and ultimately finishing 7th overall with a jump of 14.92 meters.
Page followed with another strong performance in the finals of the men's 60-meter hurdles, finishing 4th overall with a time of 7.86.
In the men's triple jump, Kane Hill added another top finish for Meridian, placing 10th overall with a mark of 14.72 meters.
On the women's side, the 4x800-meter relay team of Serenity Singleton, De'Asia Cook, Iylan Hill, and Ayana Walker finished 10th overall with a time of 10:11.14, rounding out the Eagles' top-10 performances at the national meet.
Head Coach Chip Gayden was pleased with how his team competed against the nation's best.
"Our athletes represented Meridian Community College well on the national stage," Gayden said. "Competing at this level and finishing in the top 10 in multiple events shows the hard work and dedication these student-athletes have put in throughout the season."
The NJCAA Indoor Championships mark the conclusion of the 2026 indoor season for the Eagles. MCC will now turn its attention to the outdoor track & field season, which begins March 20 at the Belhaven Invitational.
