Bio
Entering his fifth season as head coach of the Meridian Community College softball program, Brad Grinstead has helped usher in a new era for Eagle Softball. During the 2025-26 season, Grinstead guided MCC to its first postseason appearance in more than 20 years, earned MACCC Coach of the Year honors, and surpassed 100 career conference victories as a head coach. The Eagles also recorded a 30-win season as the program continued its rise within one of the nation's most competitive softball conferences.
Grinstead has played a key role in the growth of the program both on and off the field. Under his leadership, the Eagles moved into the state-of-the-art Tommy McDonald Softball Field at the Citizens National Bank Sports Complex during the 2024-25 season, giving MCC one of the premier softball facilities in the region and providing a strong foundation for future success.
Prior to arriving at Meridian Community College, Grinstead served as an assistant coach at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where he helped one of the nation's premier junior college softball programs continue its tradition of success. Before his time at Gulf Coast, he spent four seasons as head coach at Mississippi Delta Community College, where he helped elevate the program by setting school records for wins and producing All-MACCC performers.
Grinstead also gained valuable coaching experience as an assistant coach at Lyon College and Hendrix College in Arkansas. During his time at Lyon, he helped the program achieve a school-record win total and compete among the top teams in its conference.
A Colorado native, Grinstead earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Hendrix College, where he was a standout baseball player. A three-year letterman for the Warriors, he was an All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Honorable Mention selection and a member of the SCAC Academic Honor Roll. He helped lead Hendrix to the 2009 SCAC Tournament Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Known for his emphasis on player development, academic success, and building a championship culture, Grinstead continues to position the Eagles for long-term success while helping student-athletes reach their goals on the field, in the classroom, and beyond graduation.
