Storm Sweeps Conference and National Player of the Week Honors
MERIDIAN, Miss. – Meridian Community College freshman Mira Storm's spectacular week on the pitch has earned her recognition at both the conference and national levels. On Tuesday, Storm was named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, and on Wednesday, she was honored by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) as the Division II Women's Soccer Player of the Week.
The Herning, Denmark, native delivered a hat trick and an assist on the road against No. 11 Jones College, nearly guiding the Lady Eagles to what would have been their first victory over the Bobcats in 15 years. She then followed up with another goal at home against top-ranked Northwest Mississippi, capping an unforgettable week.
Across those two matches, Storm totaled four goals and one assist on seven shots, with six of those on target. She finished the week with an .857 shooting percentage and nine total points.
"Mira had an incredible week, and it's exciting to see her step up so early in her career," said MCC head coach Mike Smith. "To be recognized at both the conference and national levels speaks to just how special she is as a player, and this is only the beginning of what she can accomplish for our program."
Storm and the Lady Eagles will look to carry that momentum into Friday's road match against the Lady Wolves of Copiah-Lincoln in Wesson, Miss.
