Three MCC Soccer Players Earn All-MACCC Honors
MERIDIAN, Miss. – Three Meridian Community College soccer players have been recognized with postseason honors from the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) following standout seasons on the pitch.
For the Lady Eagles, freshman midfielder Flo Rigby of Manchester, England, was named First Team All-MACCC. In her debut season, Rigby led the Lady Eagles with 12 goals, adding 4 assists, 28 points, and 2 game-winning goals. She finished the year tied for fifth in the conference in goals scored and fifth overall in points — an impressive mark for a freshman.
Joining her on the all-conference list is fellow freshman Mira Storm of Herning, Denmark, who was named Second Team All-MACCC as a forward. Storm ranked second on the team with 11 goals, along with 3 assists, 25 points, and 1 game-winning goal. In conference play, she finished tied for eighth in goals and 11th in points.
"I'm extremely proud of both Flo and Mira," said MCC women's head coach Mike Smith. "For two freshmen to make such an immediate impact speaks volumes about their talent, work ethic, and commitment to this program. They've both shown strong leadership potential, and I'm excited to see what's ahead for them in their sophomore seasons."
On the men's side, sophomore Jason Guerrero of Hattiesburg, Miss., earned Second Team All-MACCC honors for midfielders. Guerrero opened the season in explosive fashion, leading the nation in goals scored early in the year. He closed out his sophomore campaign with 14 goals, 7 assists, 35 points, and 1 game-winning goal — ranking seventh in the MACCC in goals and sixth in total points.
"Jason has been a key piece of our success and a leader both on and off the field," said MCC men's head coach Diego Figueroa. "He set the tone for our team with his work rate and drive to compete every match. It's great to see his hard work recognized by the conference."
