Lady Eagles Advance to NJCAA Region 23 Semifinals
ELLISVILLE, Miss. – The 18th-ranked Meridian Community College women's tennis team is headed to the semifinal round of the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament after defeating Copiah-Lincoln Community College 5-2 in Thursday's quarterfinal matchup.
Playing as the No. 3 seed, the Lady Eagles opened strong against the No. 6 seed Co-Lin Lady Wolves, taking two of three doubles matches to gain early momentum. MCC then secured three victories in singles competition to clinch the win and advance.
The Region 23 Tournament is being hosted by No. 1 seed Jones College in Ellisville. The semifinal round is set for Friday, April 11 at 2 p.m., with Meridian taking on the No. 2 seed Mississippi Gulf Coast.
MCC will look to carry Thursday's momentum into Friday's semifinal against a formidable opponent. The winner will move on to the championship match scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12. The losing team will compete in the third-place match at 2 p.m. Saturday against the loser of the Jones vs. Northwest semifinal.
